The Ethics of Machiavelli

Richard Aberle

Machiavelli’s work has always been considered the inspiration for ruthless leadership, yet Machiavelli is also called the the father of modern political science and the architect of realpolitik.  In the current political climate, the term “machiavellian” has gained new currency.  Aberle’s talk will focus on the ethical dimension of his work and look at Machiavelli yesterday and today.

Richard Aberle teaches English at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh and was a Fellow at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Institute for Ethics in Public Life.
