Stephanie Tripp/VR for Everybody
There’s been a lot of hype about virtual reality(VR) and the Metaverse lately, and popular discussions often focus on futuristic fantasies or nightmarish dystopias. This talk focuses on VR technologies that exist in the here and now, and how we may encounter them in our everyday lives. Stephanie will introduce some widely available VR technologies, discuss how she is using them to create immersive storytelling projects, and show some examples of her work in progress.
Stephanie Tripp, Ph.D., is a digital media scholar and practitioner, and Associate Professor of Communication at The University of Tampa. She was the founding program director of UT’s Master of Arts in Social and Emerging Media. Her work investigates community identity, collective memory, and knowledge legitimation in the digital age.
