PIONEER GIRL: Memories of a Homesteading Life on Cape Breton Island
Jo Ann will talk about her life and share lessons learned from the 30 years she and her husband Jigs operated a small hand-and-horse-powered 100 acre farm on a remote peninsula on Cape Breton Island on the northeastern tip of Nova Scotia, with the Three No’s: no running water, no telephone, and no vehicle.
Jo Ann Gardner, a highly respected horticulturist, has published seven books on botanical subjects. Her articles have appeared in many pub-lications in the U.S. and Canada. She writes a regular column for Farming Magazine: People, Land, Community. A selection of her books will be for sale and signing at this event.
